Apple AirPods Reviews 2022 – Everything You Need To Know
We are here for you the Apple Airpods review. The first Apple AirPods had brought something magical to the little world of truly wireless headsets, as they were not known at the time. Thanks to their home chip, the W1, the AirPods removed the difficulties of pairing and integrated perfectly into the iOS and macOS universe, since we could use, without question, the headset and its embedded microphone with iPad, iPhone or Mac. A real success, despite some small defects or points of obvious improvements.
Almost three years later, Apple returns to his work with AirPods (which we will call 2, to distinguish them from their elders). A question then arises logically: do they change everything or, let’s be more realistic, enough to deserve to be skipped?

Let those who wait for a new design mourn them. Externally, the new AirPods are identical to their elders. This has its advantages and disadvantages. Advantage, in that comfort, is always good. Thus, each earpiece weighs no more than a feather (4 g, while the storage box and load reaches 38 g) and slips into most flags without wanting to leave unexpectedly – even if you have decided to go running. Better, he can stay there for several hours without bruising you.
On the flip side, logically, we find the same disadvantages, mainly a very bad external noise isolation, which will complicate the listening of a podcast with many interventions spoken in a noisy environment – randomly a metro.
Even ergonomics, which interrupts the music when you remove them from your ear and even sound performance. Our measures are almost identical, not sufficiently different in any case so that we can speak of an obvious evolution. Differences in power – slightly higher for the first generation – may very well be related to a small variation in the position of the earphones in our measurement tool. If only for that, we still can not recommend it to audiophiles – not to listen to their favorite tracks anyway.
Anyway, by going from one to the other, whether for music, podcasts, or watching a movie or a series, it was impossible for us to distinguish between the two generations of AirPods. The rendering is very honest, but not extraordinary. It varies a lot depending on the orientation of the earpiece in your ear.
Where are the improvements in these Apple Air Pods? The first is the new H1 chip, compatible with Bluetooth 5.0, which replaces the W1. It offers the ability to summon Siri without having to double-tap the body of the earpiece. A “Dis, Siri” will be enough to wake up the personal assistant to start the music or make a call. This is especially useful if you are running the AirPods and are afraid to dislodge them with an unsafe hand. Another positive collateral effect is that the double-tap can be allocated to another action, which prevents Siri from getting into trouble when you readjust the headset.
Especially since it turns out that Siri’s reaction is still a bit slow and frustrating. Slow, because it sometimes takes a second (or more, an eternity for the impatient) before manifesting itself. Frustrating, because you have to wait for the reaction on the one hand, but also because it often happens that you have to do it several times before Siri realizes that it’s his turn. In both cases, we do not know if we have been heard, because no small sound alert warns us of the activation of the voice assistant. In the end, these little problems do not encourage Siri very much.
H1 chip is given to ensure further progress. Among other things, we are thinking of better voice quality when calling in complicated, windy environments. In this case, we did not notice any real change, but the first AirPods, which have been with us for nearly three years, were already excellent in this area.
Another point of progress announced the connection of one Apple device to another is given to be twice as fast. Once again, in fact, we did not notice any noticeable change in the transition from the iPhone to the Watch or from an iPad to a MacBook Pro, for example.
Especially since it is always necessary to go to the Control Center of iOS or in the Bluetooth menu of macOS, to switch from one to the other. Certainly, AirPods are still among the easiest to use in this area, but it would have been appreciated that Apple has improved things, to offer what other wireless headsets provide, in this case, the connection to several devices simultaneously.
It is possible to use applications on macOS (AirBuddy, for example) to try to catch up, but it is still not perfect and as fluid as one would like. It should be noted in any case that this second generation is still running on Android, thanks to third-party applications.
Despite these caveats, the pleasure of use in everyday life is still there, the simplicity of configuration also. In this, the magic of AirPods is always in order. We would have just liked more magic …
And even more wireless …
Like all true wireless headphones that come in a case that also acts as a charger. The AirPods are recharged as soon as they are stored and it’s an extra comfort, the certainty of having them always ready for use.
The promise is all the easier now that the AirPods 2 case benefits from induction charging thanks to Qi technology. In other words, simply put their case on your AirPower – or another induction charger that would have been marketed him. A small diode on the front of the case will tell you if the set is ready. Failing to be very fast, induction charging is convenient.
We measured that with a wireless charger (the Belkin Boost Up Charging Pad 10 W), the case is recharged in 5:05 for almost 5:12. These same headphones put them, 44 minutes to reach the 100% charge when one slips them in their house.
